The pseudoscience claim discussed in the report is about the shaping the body for ladies. The
claim of hot pants and the warming crystals as effective means to reduce the fat and make the
person reduce the weight is seen in multiple advertisements in the recent years. The claim is
quite popular both in online advertisements, news articles as well in multiple e-commerce
sites. The proposed dressing (underwear) is claimed as a cure for Cellulite. It is actually a
shaping underwear used by ladies. It is said to smooth out the annoying orange peel lumps on
the skin. It is a product from Scala Bio-Fir underwear. The underwear is said to contain tiny
bio crystals which will become warmed up when they come in contact with the human body
(wearer’s skin). Once they get heated, they will enhance the circulation in the thighs,
stomach and rear part of the body. The proposed mechanism is expected to generate infrared
rays from the undies after the bio-crystals of the underwear gets heated up due to the body
heat. The infrared rays released from the fabric will interact with the metabolism of the cells
and this in turn will release the body’s own nitric oxide, a blood vessel dilator which will
improve the blood circulation and the delivery of the oxygen will happen to the skin. Finally
the process will transfer the fat layers that make up cellulite to liquid. The liquid will
