Significance of the Topic The topic is significant since the issue tries to evaluate the importance of the team. The problem also tries to show how a team faces specific challenges while operating. A global team needs to perform various kinds of activities and tasks. Therefore, multiple issues like coordination, cooperation, time management need to be taken care of by the leaders while leading a global team (Dulebohn & Julia, 2017). Through this project, the various challenges would be highlighted that can be faced by the worldwide team while operating multiple tasks. With the help of the team charter, the topic would elaborate on the various divisions of tasks aligned in a global organisation. The importance of team roles and their performances would be analysed with the help of the topic. 2. Literature Review Concepts of a Global Team A global team is a team that works together in coordination across geographical barriers. The team members of a worldwide team work together with variations of the time zones. The focus of the work is stagnant, but the time zones are different due to the differences in the geographical distances. The global team refers to the group that is engaged in remote work. The unit does not meet in person over the organisation. The work and the decisions carried out in a global team are largely based on internet and cloud management systems (Smal & Jogeva, 2017). Global teams are often referred to as the virtual teams as well. Since the decisions and the complete workforce are completely engaged through virtual connections, the global team operates in virtual reality. For the successful outcomes of a global team, strong technical support is very much required. Team Theory Team Theory led by Belbin suggests that every individual behaviour is responsible for the coordination of a team. The theory suggests that it is the behaviour and the patterns of a team member that determines the progress of a group (Corban et al. 2020). It is the behaviour of the team members, which contributes to the team differently. Team theory is a mathematical analysis of cooperation and teamwork. The theory suggests that it is through the behaviours and the contributions of the team members that make the team high functioning. Way of Leading a Global Team There are various ways, through which the global team can be conducted. The ways are: · The setting of clear targets: Ambiguous and inconsistent decisions might hamper the coordination in the global team. · Time management across the countries is one of the most important ways to lead a global team · Cultural awareness among the team members is one of the significant steps in leading an efficient global team (Mockaitis, Zander & De Cieri, 2018). · Use of advanced technology like cloud computing, Skype, emails and others are required to lead a global team. · Effective leadership styles are one

Literature Review: Challenges Relating to Leading Global Team
Prepared by: Laxman Poudel
Introduction
Companies now-a-days are trying to work globally in order to expand its business and earn more profits. For this they are trying to hire geographically disseminated workforce internationally. These organizations are headed by leaders who are engaging the best resources who are highly skilled in their area of specification and have vast knowledge of the local markets. Also, the leaders try to
congregate the experiences of the diverse cultural workforce to overcome the strategic and organizational challenges. This is done only through collaborating of the teams from different geographies of the organization. Thus, leaders and managers face extreme and stiff challenges while integrating the work of the individual resources and work as a team to achieve the organizational objectives. It is very easy when employees working in a team are from same geography and share the similar work culture. Problem and challenges arises for the managers when these employees come from different geographic locations. The various problems that occurs are due to employees working from such remote locations may be deterioration of communication, rise of distrust and misunderstanding among the team members. On analysis it was discovered that it is the social distancing which raises the gap between various team members. When the employees work in a place their level of interaction increases and there is enhancement in the trust level. This encourages a sense of congeniality among the workers. This enhances the team performances among these workers. On the other hand employees who work remotely experiences high level of social distancing and struggles to inculcate the level of friendly and effective interactions among themselves. Thus, the leaders face tremendous challenges when operating a team remotely from different geographic location. But, in order to expand and continue to grow the global leaders and multinational organizations must develop some tools and techniques which can reduce the differences in the team working remotely.
Analysis
Major challenges
It is high social distancing Tsedal Neeley (2015) which causes differences among the employees in a team and leads to mistrust and hatred against each other within the team. It is also known as perceived power imbalances with the team and groups. If the team members are mostly from United States while handful members are from the countries like South Africa and Germany then there arises a sense that the members of United States being more powerful and supreme in the team. This creates a negative atmosphere within the team with the larger group from US showing their resentment towards the minority groups. The resentment may be in the form of less contribution from the minority group and getting away with a larger share of rewards. On the other hand, the minority group may believe that the majority group is seizing their decision making powers and threatening to raise their voices. This creates a hostile atmosphere in the team and discourages any form of development in the organization. Thus the leaders must develop few techniques and procedures which can help to reduce these barriers and mitigate the diversity in the team.
Thus in short the challenges that generally arise within the global team are as follows:
1. Due to lack of face to face interactions; Katherine Tulpa (2013) and contacts there is no trusts among the members which can result in difficulties to build relationships necessary for achieving company objectives.
2. When the actual works needs to be done the team is not focused and is out of sight and mind resulting in failure.
3. The environment may seem suffocative where there is no opportunity for creativity among the team members.
4. The leadership commanding and directives may be old fashioned and not sympathetic towards the team members. This leads to a sense fear within the team and discourages the opportunity to speak and communicate appropriately.
5. Conducting meetings by the leaders frequently during the odd periods like EODs can cause resentment among the team members and result in poor productivity and inefficiency.
Solution to the problems
To mitigate the perceived power imbalances there has to be motivation among the team members Matt Gavin (2019); which has to be conducted by the leaders. The leaders should encourage the sense of understanding the differences among the team members along with creating a bridge to build unity among each member. There are many multinational companies operating throughout the world with workforces coming from various countries with more than 10 different languages and thus creating a diverse work culture. This might result in decline in the performances and employee satisfaction. To bring the team members back together, it is the leaders who should create opportunities for employees who talks about their culture and emphasize on a zero tolerance policy if there is any insensitivity towards culture within the team. This will develop a sense among the team members that although they are culturally different but they united will contribute towards the achievement of...
