Topic background: People living in rural and remote areas of Australia often experience health inequalities when compared to their metropolitan counterparts. Research from the Heart Foundation indicates that morbidity and mortality related to heart disease are significantly higher in rural and remote areas of Australia when compared to their metropolitan counterparts.

Assignment Question / Task Description:

Describe the effect of rurality on the prevalence, morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular disease in rural and remote populations of Australia. Discuss the key health messages that nurses provide to members of the community to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease. In your answer identify two (2) relevant strategies or support organisations that exist in rural Australia specific to cardiovascular disease.

Instructions for this assessment task:

To be successful with this assessment task you are strongly advised to: • Draw upon relevant cloud concepts, videos, literature and content provided in this unit. • Headings may be used for this assessment task.

• Identify relevant literature which should mainly include peer reviewed journal articles as well as government reports. The suggested readings in this unit are a good place to start. References that are not peer reviewed such as Wikipedia, Better Health Channel and .com sites are not appropriate for this assessment task as the information provided at these sites are targeted at consumers, not health professionals and are not always evidence based or accurate. • You may find a number of existing strategies or support organisations that are Australia wide, however, for this assessment task you must discuss the relevance of these specifically in regards to rural and/or remote populations. • We have designed the rubric to help you develop an understanding of the expected standard, and the qualities that make good work. We recommend that at the start of your assignment preparation, you become familiar with each of the assessment criteria and descriptors in the rubric, and refer to them continually as you undertake your planning, research, writing and revision. • Check your assignment against the marking rubric and presentation instructions before submission to ensure you have addressed all the requirements.

Prevalence of Cardiovascular Disease in the Rural Australia: Key Approaches

Introduction
The prevalence of cardiovascular diseases has been perceived as common among various populations and communities at international level. In fact, the extensive research that is conducted over taking preventive measures has now made it possible to the patients and to the expert
s of CVD to adapt to a positive approach in treating it (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2016). In Australian context, there are more than 3 million of cases are registered so far which implies that one in a six Australian suffers from CVD. In approximately 12 minutes, the death of one Australian is caused by CVD. However, the point that is noteworthy here is that the ratio of getting affected by CVD is higher in rural areas in Australia than it is seen in the urbanized regions. Some possible reasons behind this prevalence are related to less access to healthcare services, poor lifestyle measures as well as lack of positive behaviors or clinical interventions to alleviate their health standards (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2016)
The Overview of Prevalence of CVD in Regional Areas
At first, it is significant to note here that people living in the rural areas have less access to the healthcare services which impedes their healthy status of body and mind. In fact, the cardiovascular diseases emerge because of having weak lifestyles like non punctuated routine, bad diet followed as well as over consumption of the harmful drugs, alcohol or smoking. It is likely possible that people tend to develop a routine which affects their overall health, when it comes to take precautions against the onset of the CVD diseases either early or late in life. Mostly, the social, economical and clinical determinants influence the progress and rapid growth of CVD based morbidity in rural and remote areas in Australia (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2016)
The Social and Economical Determinants
In the context of examining the causes behind the over prevalence of CVD in rural areas of Australia, the social and economical factors contribute significantly (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2016). The social determinants firsthand affect the growth and scale of awareness that is required for taking preventions against any possibility of having CVD. The demographical isolation leads to the principle thought that social distancing becomes mandatory to the local people, enabling distance in their behavior, sharing of information with each other as well in determining at which point of time, they need support of a clinical expert in order to take care of their lives (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2016)
Categorically, there are five major divisions in which, the Australian communities are placed. These are major cities, inner regional, outer regional, remote and very remote areas. The major impact of CVD has been seen majorly in the remote and very remote areas because these are the regions where the lack of social support, clinical access of people towards qualified medical facilities as well as the lifestyle issues in the routine exists to a large extent. In 2014, the full time work, including the weekly hours given for work as per the norms of government, were low in the remote and very remote areas. It simply implies the fact that the availability of employment is low in these regions which is further responsible for their low economical status (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2020).
Moreover, when it comes to facilitate the healthcare services, people living in remote areas have to access these services by travelling a long distance. In their local areas, clinical support—or at least the support that is qualified as the medical care—is less available. The access to healthcare services, thus, is low and it is not properly farmed for the diversified population living in the remote and very remote areas of the nation (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2020). For instance, 57% of people...
