Introduction
    Care seekers with incurable medical conditions hint at the fact that they are going to die shortly, making medical treatment futile. Considering the nature of the incurable condition of the care seekers, caregiver either offers them to home-based palliative care services or moves them to care facilities, namely inpatient palliative care. Although both of the palliative care types have similar goals and treat similar type of care seekers, there are distinct differences in the functioning and prioritisation process. In the current essay, a comparative as well as contrasting discussion is provided for understanding the way home-based and inpatient palliative care treats its care seekers in order to offer them compensatory services to reduce their pain and stress.
Critical and Comparative Analysis of Home-Based and Inpatient Palliative Care
    The status of modern medical science is not able to provide cure to all diseases and fail to save lives in majority of cases where the care seekers are affected by terminal diseases such as cancer and AIDS. Palliative care of both types- home-based and inpatient therefore, have limited effectiveness when it comes to treating fatal or incurable diseases. As mentioned by Jack, Mitchell, Cope and O’Brien (2016), terminal diseases on their final stages become unaffected by medical treatments and offer no solution to the care seekers, therefore, it becomes evident that the care seekers would die.
In addition, it is also found that old people gradually lose their immunity and their internal organs fail over time, resulting in inevitable deaths. In cases where the care seekers are assumed to die shortly, healthcare staffs either move them to special facility, namely inpatient palliative care, for soothing their suffering, pain, and stress to spend their remaining days in a medically advanced care environment.
People with curable diseases are also sending to palliative care to reduce their mental stress, which has a lot to do with the environment they live in. As observed by Tellem, Strauss, Hochberg and Sobol (2018), as the patients are send home, a special team of medical practitioners offer home-based care.
