Introduction
Counselling for grief is a form of Psychotherapy, which targets to help people to cope with emotional, social, professional and physical loss. Grief counsellors use multiple techniques to ensure that the counselling process is done keeping the unique background of the individual and t
he loss incurred by him as a major direction, which will help in the process of the healing.
Part A
Throughout our life we experience multiple instances when grief grips us. Grief is often caused by situations that are often leading to many factors that are linked to situations that one finds oneself in and this is associated with the various aspects of experiences that are a part of the common life process. The counselling of grief is done with the help of both traditional and modern methods and models.
Traditional and contemporary Grief models are associated with trying to understand the various ways to address the issue
The Kubler Ross Grief Cycle
In the context of this model, a person who is suffering from retrenchment from employment will be suffering some basic feelings in a chronological manner. This is the five-stage grief model, which was developed by observing a grieving population over a long time.

(Source- Roos & Ph 2012)
In the first denial stage, the individual denies the news and tries to survive the loss by refusing to accept the loss of the loss of employment. In this process one gives time to one’s self to cope with grief (Hospiceslo.org 2019).  In the case of anger, which is the next stage, there are ways by way of which the individual may express angst against the authority for the incident of retrenchment. This is followed by the third step that is bargaining, where the patient tries to communicate with the spiritual entity and tries to bargain their way out of the mess. This is an extreme stage of desperation, where the patient is in a state where they are facing a feeling wanting to let go of some bad habit in order to regain the employment. The next stage is that of depression, where the loss of the job and its implication gradually seeps in and the associated feeling is that of withdrawal from social life, experiencing suicidal thoughts. Finally, the patient reaches the final stage of grief that is associated with accepting the retrenchment and realising it as a reality.
In this kind of situation, the counsellor aids the patient through long and repetitive counselling sessions, so that the person concerned finally accepts the retrenchment and there is tremendous effort given to ensure that the bereaved feels in tune with gradually. The five stage model clearly shows that there are distinct discernible patterns of grief associated with the retrenchment experienced by the employee.
The Biopsychosocial Model
This is a linear model and was used at one time in grief-oriented care to handle stress and bereavement. As per this model, Engel has proposed that bio psychosocial model that all systems are interlinked. In order to ensure that some care can be provided the bio psychosocial story of the patients needs to be understood. The problem that is linked with the issue is this that this models that grief complication has both social as well as psychological undertones. Grief in this model is considered an illness that has to be cured. In the case of grief due to retrenchment there is this concept where the problem is initially addressed by medication, the prolonged grief is treated as an illness and it is continuously reiterated that loss is aimless. Medications are also used in this respect. In this case there are also patterns that can be seen that will ensure that the person concerned is undergoing grief related to retrenchment and the withdrawal from social cycles is a major indicator in this case. This process takes account of the psychological and social aspect of this retrenchment and then the care is provided accordingly (Álvarez, Pagani & Meucci, 2012).

The dual process model of grief
The traditional methods have been left far behind and this dual model of coping has been developed by Margaret Stroebe and Henk Schut  to address the issue of human grief. This model focuses on the aspect that the state of grief can be the combination factor of accepting it also of confronting it. In the case of the retrenchment, the loss-oriented process of coping is applied where focus is on recognising it and accepting it. This process brings on a lot of anger, irritability and self-destructive tendencies. These symptoms are the discernible patterns that can be seen in the patient. This, is the process that is associated with the confrontation aspect; whereas the restoration oriented part of the dual process, method is associated with accepting the incident (Stroebe & Schut, 2010). Then the restoration-oriented process is incorporated where the feeling is associated with acceptance of the loss and the effort to ensure that the attachment...
