Introduction
The Organisations have to consistently develop new innovations in Information Systems to achieve competitive advantage (Buruncuk and Gulser, 2016). Various Information Systems can be used in Business Organisations to achieve cost leadership, product differentiation, innovation, growth and strategic alliance. IS/IT applications can strengthen the business planning, enabling the Organisation to achieve the advantages over the competitive forces faced by it in the global market. For example, E-Procurement Systems and Online Business Models can be used to reduce the operating costs (Lang and Amberg, 2013). The use of Information Systems may lead to automation of business processes. Global operations platform and Omni channel strategy can be established to achieve business growth. Inter Organisational Information Systems and Virtual Organisations can be effectively used to improve the relationships with the business partners.
Consumer Relationship Management Systems (such as offering multiple touch points to the bank customers through internet, ATMs, Fax machines, Video, and Branches) can be used to build stronger relationships. The Organisations can use tools like Value chain, Five Competitive Strategies and Porter’s Five Forces Model to assess the competitive position in the market. The execution and planning of information system need to be transparent to enhance the accountability.
The report analyzes ‘how the Organisations strategically use Information Systems and Information Technology to achieve the IS/IT enabled innovation’.
