The nurses should be given some decision making power as this will enhance their skills and give them encouragement to work in a better way. Though this should be done under guidance and coordination with the physicians and it will allow the nurses to render their services properly.
There should be proper stress management classes for the nurses which can be done in some form of physical workout or meditation so that they can overcome all the challenges that they see throughout. This will increase the efficiency of the nurses and they will be able to support the family of the grieved.
Background
Nurses play significant role in the medical industry and during their professional life they undergo lot of emotional trauma. They do not just provide medical assistance to the doctors but also give healing therapy to the patients and emotional support to the relatives. Death of a patient is an outcome that the nurses encounter several times during their professional career and they therefore become effective support for the aggrieved families and relatives. These nurses therefore have to approach to the patients and their families through multiple approach as they are called to put an end-of-life care for the deteriorating patients. The nurses therefore adopt the coping strategy related to the death of the patient and they manage their emotions in a particular way and they therefore need supportive work environment in the ICU and other extensive care units.
