You task is to identify the hardware, software, data, database, network, and security elements used in the IS of the business. The next step is to thoroughly discuss, analyse, and criticise the role of each of the software elements used in the business model. Lego’s main products have been the bricks and figures that children have played with for generations. The Danish company has experienced sustained growth since its founding in 1932, and for most of its history its major manufacturing facilities were located in Denmark. In 2003, Lego was facing tough competition from imitators and manufacturers of electronic toys. In an effort to reduce costs, the group decided to initiate a gradual restructuring process that continues today. In 2006, the company announced that a large part of its production would be outsourced to the electronics manufacturing service company Flextronics, which has plants in Mexico, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. a) Components of computer system.
Computer is an electric general purpose device used for various functions that takes input and gives output by processing the data as per given set of instructions. There are major two types of components of computer system. These are as follows-
a. Hardware (Input and output devices) - physical components (i.e. which can be touch and felt physically) of a computer are known as hardware that includes input as well as output devices. Input devices includes mouse, keyboard, joystick, scanner, CD drive that are used to give raw data to the system whereas output devices like monitor, printer, scanner, TFT, LED, LCD are the ones that gives data to user after processing it up. Input and output works together to complete a given task by taking reflecting data.
b. Software- system software is basically a set of instructions that is used to process the data. With software, hardware can’t work. Software felicitates the hardware to perform its functions. System and application software tends to use various languages which may be machine and symbolic languages.
