A Message from the CEO Dear Employees, I wish to personally thank you for your professionalism and continued dedication to McGruder Industries. Last year was certainly the most challenging year our company has faced in its proud history and I would like to take this opportunity to dispel some of the rumours circulating around some of the issues that arose. Obviously, the most serious matter for McGruder Industries was the media investigation into the ongoing use of child labour in Somali manufacturing facilities. The investigation revealed that one of our suppliers, Fabian Ltd, engaged manufacturers in Somalia that employ child labour to produce their products. This situation was not known to us and was a clear breach of our supply contract with Fabian Ltd. We therefore terminated our contract with Fabian Ltd. The good news is we were able to find a replacement supplier relatively quickly – a local supplier that operates within our own metropolitan area. This new local supplier means that our percentage of products and services purchased locally has risen to 75% of our total procurement budget. Plus the materials from our new supplier are both renewable and recyclable which means our total weight for non-renewable materials has decreased to 55 tonnes while our total weight for renewable materials has increased to 45 tonnes. And our total weight for recycled input materials has increased to 25 tonnes. The second serious issue faced by McGruder Industries this year was the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) investigation into our recent marketing communications. The investigation found that McGruder Industries had engaged in false and misleading conduct and issued an Infringement Notice with a penalty of $12,600. McGruder Industries paid the fine and updated our marketing policies to ensure future compliance with all Australian Consumer Law provisions. The third serious issue was a significant fuel spill at our warehouse in Flintoff, Victoria. Approximately 8 kilolitres of fuel spilled from a rupture in one of the fuel tanks into the soil around its base. The spill soaked directly into the ground and we have sprayed the affected area with liquid hydrocarbon-eating bacteria to remediate the soil. It has certainly been a challenging year for us but we all must remember there have been some great wins too. The Federal Government awarded our organisation with a $15 million research and development grant that we will use to continue our breakthrough research into biotechnology. This was also the year we completed our $10 million health and welfare centre project in Esperance, Western Australia. This centre will provide much needed support to families coping with a range of social issues completely free of charge. It is an extremely worthy initiative and demonstrates our clear commitment to the social well-being of those that are less fortunate in our community. Finally, our employee training program on human rights was launched this year and has already completed 100 hours of training on aspects of human rights that are relevant to our operations. This means that 35% of our employees have been trained in human rights principles ranging from gender equality to human dignity and respect. With your continued hard work and support I am extremely confident that McGruder Industries can build further upon our success in the coming year. i) Disclosure 201-4 financial assistance received from the government
This is the total financial assistance which is received by the company from the federal government of a country where the company conducts its business operations. It includes tax reliefs and credits facilities. Various types of subsidie
s, grants related to investment, research and development programs and various awards for achieving and adhering to the prescribed guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Also, financial assistance in the form of Export Credit Agencies and financial initiatives, other financial benefits received or receivables during the business operations from the federal government. For McGruder Industries the Australian federal government has awarded $15 million for conducting the research and development grants which will be used for the company’s research and developmental program in biotechnology. Therefore, McGruder industries will try to develop breakthrough research and development programs by constructing state of art facility for the development of life saving medicines and making it affordable to the local community as well as internationally at affordable costs. The Western Australian government announced a total funding facility of $169.9 million towards the development of the hospitals and healthcare facilities in the regions. Therefore, there is broader scope of development for McGruder to supply their medicines by improvising their biotechnology facility with life saving medicines.

ii) Disclosure 203-1 Infrastructure Investments and services supported
The above disclosure is related to any development which has been undertaken and initiated by an organization and with respect to significant improvements in infrastructure and services must be adhered as per the GRI guidelines and must be followed by the company. Also, the companies must report on the positive and negative impacts of the infrastructural improvement on the local economy and towards the community in which it operates. Also, they have to report if these developmental programs are commercial in nature or for the betterment of the public. To this issue McGruder industries was able to complete a $10 million project which was related to the construction of health and welfare centers in Esperance which is a town in the southern coast of Western Australia. Already the Australian Federal Government has invested more than $31.3 million for the redevelopment of the Esperance Health Campus. This is an initiative by the federal government to develop the healthcare facilities so as to deliver top quality care facilities closer to the people and the community of Esperance and South East Coastal areas. The Esperance Health Campus will be a state of art facility in the Western Australia delivering new and improved emergency facilities, improved maternity services and expanded surgical services. Therefore, as these healthcare facilities are likely to improve, there are tremendous opportunities for McGruder industries to supply their medicines to these hospitals. They can also serve the community by development of blood donation and free health checkups for the people in their welfare camps. iii) Disclosure 204-1 Proportion of spending on local suppliers
This disclosure is related to reporting by company with respect to the procurement budget which is used for a geographic location of business operations and is also spent on the local suppliers for the same purpose. This is basically the percentage of products and services which are bought from the local community suppliers by the company. For McGruder industries there has been a change in the supplier due to some malpractices conducted by supplier with respect to human and child right acts in the Somalia manufacturing facility. Till the previous year Fabian Ltd. was the supplier of the McGruder industries in its Somalia manufacturing facility. There has been a case of usage of child labour for working in its facilities. Immediately the agreement with the supplier Fabian Ltd was terminated and has been replaced with the new and local supplier which operates in their own metropolitan area.
