I. Introduction:
One of the most common gastrointestinal tract (GIT) disorders in modern times is Amlapitta, also known as Acid Peptic Disorder (APD) in modern science and as Amlapitta in Ayurveda. It refers to the inflammatory condition of the stomach lining caused by the improper use of hydrochloric acid (HCl) as a result of Helicobacter pylori. Amlapitta is a bothersome condition that can lead to several significant issues and, if not properly managed, can cause ulcers and raise the risk of stomach cancer. Globally, 50.8% of the populations in developing countries suffer from gastritis, which is closely related to Amlapitta. In Sri Lanka, a prevalence (gate, n.d.)of 70.1% was demonstrated among Sinhalese patients for the presence of Helicobacter pylori, and the prevalence of gastritis in the study area was 78.8%. The use of herbal products for the treatment of Amlapitta and gastritis has gained significant popularity among patients, and many herbal products for Amlapitta are now available in the commercial market.
Herbal products are pharmaceuticals made from plants, and they are available in various forms such as tablets, capsules, powder, tea bags, and liquid extracts.
