As has been mentioned in the documents, Mansa Musa’s grandfather Saraq Jata was converted to Islam by the grandfather of Mudrik ibn Faqqus. Hence, it shows that Africa was not always Islamic but divided into different tribes and sects. The influence of Islam in the African tribe system has been huge, which was later more influenced by Christianity as well. The advent of Islam in the African tribes has impacted their family relations and the values of the African society a lot. The Arab World had much dissimilarity with the sub-Saharan Africa. But with the spread of Islam, the Arab culture and language were also promoted globally.
The differences among the Arabian world and the sub-Saharan African societies are in their family and tribe management. The Arabian world which was already islamised by the 7th or 8th century had little space for other varied faiths and opinions. They were more radical and never opened their ways for other faiths.
