Here are the typical steps in a directed reading activity as suggested in many commercial program manuals: (1) introduction of vocabulary, (2) motivation or setting purposes, (3) reading, (4) questions and discussion after silent reading, and (5) skills practice for reinforcement. Rank these steps in order from most important to least important (not necessarily in the order you will follow them).
