The Assignment Read the article carefully, taking notes about the history of blind auditions for orchestral employment and the extent of diversity within orchestras. Also pay attention to the reasons blind auditions were adopted in the first place, Anthony Tommasini’s argument against blind auditions, and some of the drawbacks that doing way with blind auditions might have. Then, complete the 5 elements of this assignment, using a SEPARATE PARAGRAPH for each element. This assignment is an ESSAY and so should have appropriate transition between paragraphs. First, briefly introduce your topic. “In this essay I will examine… and assess….” This section of your essay can be 1 sentence long. Second, explain the context: what are blind auditions? And why do orchestras use blind auditions? And why might blind auditions be a problem? Third, explain Anthony Tommasini’s argument: Why is Tommasini’s argument against blind auditions?
