Hello,

This is for Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. You need to do the following (they are mostly all short answer questions):

1) CHCECE012

2) CHCECE002

3) CHCECE009

The childcare centre that this is based on has a Reggio Emilia approach, hence they mostly use natural-based products, items and environment - Nido Early School. For the photos, you can go to https://www.facebook.com/pg/nidoprahran/photos/?ref=page_internal and for the appendices you can use resources that are available online, for some of the appendices you need to create your own. The answers should be realistic as it is based on a lived experience. For example, questions relating to medication should be what is mostly given in childcare centres; asthma medication - relievers, preventers. There are the two main sources that you will need to answer some questions that have been attached: Early Years Learning Framework National Quality Standard. Please fill in the red fonts.

Thank you very much.

Assessment Task 2
INSTRUCTIONS:
Choose the topic you will use for this assessment:
· Growing and preparing food or
· Waste reduction or
· Waste recycling.
*Use this for Part A and B, this is one of the sustainability practices that the service is implementing:
“Wiggly Worms! Our intrepid gardeners, led by Kinder Teacher Mia, have been keeping on top of our composting during winter so that families can take our homemade fertiliser home.
Being able to watch our food s
craps decompose and turn into worm wee is a fascinating (and sometimes smelly) process!”
PART A: CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT SPACE
Create an environmental space in your service that gives children the opportunity to learn about the topic you have chosen.
This may be a space you have thought up yourself or it may be a project already planned by your service.
You may either create the space yourself or you may assist other people.
The space may be outdoors or indoors.
Complete Part A of the Environmental Space template below.
    ASSESSMENT TASK 2
PART A: ENVIRONMENTAL SPACE TEMPLATE
Circle the type of space you have chosen.
    Growing and preparing food
Waste Reduction
Waste recycling
What are the objectives of this space?
To help the kids understand the difference between degradable and non degradable substances. To help them understand how to reduce waste
How will the space support children to connect with their environment?
Children know how the natural things like leaves, vegetables and flowers etc are degraded in nature when they mix with the soil.
What was your role in the creation of this space?
I helped them prepare a rectangular box, fill it with soil and manure and put natural leaves and other natural waste on it to see degradation.
How is it set up? Include how you have used natural and recycled materials.
The space is created in open garden, where sunlight is there.
    How will it be used?
It will be used to put up natural waste to facilitate degradation
What resources were required and how did you obtain these?
Rectangular box, soil, gardening tools, manure and water. All these things we got from the service.
Once the area is set up, take a photo and place it here:
PART B – INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS
Prepare a leaflet that can be given to children’s families and other members of the community to let them know about the space that has been created.
Your leaflet should role model sustainable practice and must include the following:
· Information about the space.
· How this helps children to learn about sustainability.
· How the family and community can provide input to the space.
· How children can be encouraged to become involved in sustainable practices outside the service.
· An invitation for family and community members to visit and be involved in the space.
· Ideas on how family and community members can get involved in sustainable practices.
Make the creative leaflet on this page.
Innovative space is developed by students to understand biodegradation process.
Children will put up naturally degradable substances in this soil and will observe the process for 15 days.
The program will inform kids about sustainability that can be implemented at their homes. They will know how to differentiate between degradable and to be recycled substances.
The family members and community members are invited to see the initiative and encourage the children.
The family members can also get involved by developing similar pits using the resources available at teh service and may encourage the kids.
Assessment Task 3
INSTRUCTIONS:
There are two parts to this assessment.
· Part A: Identify potential improvements
· Part B: Write a report to your supervisor recommending two potential changes.
PART A – IDENTIFY POTENTIAL IMPROVEMENTS
Research sustainability practices in your service.
Now fill out the Environmental Sustainability template by identifying at least three items against each criteria that would enhance environmental sustainability in your service. Also list the advantages and disadvantages of each.
    PART A: ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY TEMPLATE
    Criteria
    Potential change identified
    Advantages of each change
    Disadvantages of each change
    Three potential changes to:
· Cleaning and other maintenance equipment
· Resources to improve environmental sustainability
    1. Segregation of natural and recyclable substances in green and red dustbins
    Improve sustainability implementation
    Adversely affects the nature

    2. Improve the children’s habit of putting the wrappers and other thrash in dustbins
    Maintain hygiene and health
