Merit pay is known to be performance related pay, which is given to an employee in return of good performance (Hall, 2018). This kind of pay is generally practiced in educational services or government civil services. There are different criteria and if those criteria are matched and the job is done in specific time period and no problems arise then this type of pay is given to the employee. This is a considered as a common case in the United Kingdom and now it has become matter of thought in the United States too where public school teachers and other public employees are to be given merit pay or not.
