Papers Evaluation: Section 1 – Introduction / Description – 2 marks • Provide brief summary of the video/article/debate from class. (1) • State if and which themes discussed address sport and/or exercise psychological/sociocultural concepts. (1) Section 2 – Discuss scenario/scenes/incidents/concepts – 5 marks (Discretionary) • Describe 1-3 scenarios/scenes/incidents/concepts from the video/article/debate that relate to course content /themes. Relate each scenario/scene/incident/concept described to material discussed in class and/or other resources. The objective of the paper is not to ‘regurgitate’ class notes nor the video/article/debate – but rather to make strong links between the two, and in so doing, demonstrate understanding and application of course material in a ‘real life’ setting. • Students will be marked on their insight in choosing appropriate components of the video/article/debate to discuss, and the clarity, strength, and appropriateness of the links that they make to class material / other references. If students choose only 1 concept/scenario/incident from the video/article/debate, they should make more extensive links with the class material and/or other resources. Whether a student chooses 1 or 3 scenarios/scenes/incidents/concepts/etc., they are expected to make clear and detailed links to class material / themes. Section 3 – Personal Insight – 3.0 marks • Offer your personal insight on the depiction of the concept(s) in the video/article/debate. Students may use ‘first person’ in this section. (1.5) • Students will also be marked on whether they provide rationale for their opinion (1.5) Writing – 5.0 marks • In-text citing and referencing is strongly encouraged. Appropriate ‘basic’ APA referencing is required. (2.0) * APA format double spaced • Ability to write concisely with appropriate weight to each section. Two pages maximum of text + reference page (cover page is not required); Section 1: less than ½ page; Section 2: ~1.5 pages; Section 3, less than ½ page). (1.0) • Ability to write fluently. Correct grammar and spelling throughout. Consistent formatting and presentation throughout. The assignment must be typed and double-spaced. (2.0)
