Introduction
The homelessness has become a wider problem for the Austin state for more than over 10 years now with every changing government new rule are imposed and, in some cases, it favors the homelessness while in some it led to the worse situation. The government is going on with the on and off policy with the public campaign as sometimes the homeless people are allowed to live in the camp while sometimes the government imposes the ban on camping. Though there are several more cities which is facing this problem but in case of Austin the situation is tougher. It has become a challenging situation for the government regarding how they could provide the homeless public a shelter to live and how they could safeguard their city as well at the same time. In the last 5 years several rules were made to improve the condition but the result could not be stated satisfactory.
It could be said that the laws passed in the last 5 years regarding the homelessness has not improved the living conditions in the city of Austin as much it was expected from it. Several points are such that depicts how the things have not improved or changed much.
Increase in the Numbers
After the several laws incorporated and passed by the government in the last 5 years the things did not seem working much. Though for a year or half the things looked as per working but at the end the results are still same. If the statistics from the last 10 years of the homeless people are compared with the last 5 years the number seems to be increasing rather than decreasing, which depicts the things are not changed over the years and the condition of the homeless population is still the same. There were about 5,53,000 people found in the United States last year according to the department of housing and urban development and 35 percent of them were not sleeping in shelters. It was considered as the annual increase in the homelessness (The Washington Post, 2019).
Increasing the Number of Camps
The situation can be best analyzed by the fact that the number of camps in the last 5 years have increased as the homeless people who did not have any place to live have only the option of living in camps and living on street. The number of people increased in the camps and in the streets have clearly illustrated the fact that the laws passed in the last 5 years has failed to solve the situation of the homelessness and the things are still the same.
