Groupwork Proposal Length: 2000 words +/-10% (excludes reference list) Marks: 50% Due date: 11pm Thursday 28th November 2019 Write a proposal for a therapeutic group for one of the below populations: i) Young Aboriginal people who are leaving care (age 18 years) ii) People who have experienced workplace discrimination because of their sexual orientation iii) Young people aged 18-25 who are carers for a parent with a mental illness iv) Siblings of young people with eating disorders. In writing this assignment you will apply the material and ideas about group process and group development taught in this course to a client population who access support through a community health centre or non-government organisation where you are a social worker. Write the assignment in the format of a proposal to agency management. Using headings and a proposal structure that you consider appropriate; the proposal will need to cover: - Rationale and aims of the proposed group, including unmet need of the client population - specific target population for the group including inclusion criteria - model of group - benefits and risks - selected discussion topics - likely issues arising in each stage of group development and how you might manage or pre-empt these - resources required - evaluation strategies - any other relevant issues which you think may help explain and justify the group Marking Criteria: 1. Demonstrated understanding of theories and literature in relation to group work including different group work models and other groupwork concepts from the course; 2.
