Government v. NP
XXXXXXXXXXWe cannot simply keep blaming government and nonprofits that do not seem to be making impacts and yet are still unwilling or unable to innovate.
We also should not believe that are not success stories.
Please discuss how we, as leaders, start to turn the large, slow-moving ship that is government.
I am sure we have all seen The Titanic, ever-imprinted in our memories by the sounds of Celine Dion.
When the ship is too large, it cannot turn fast enough. In the case of the The Titanic, with catastrophic results.
With layers and layers of hierarchy, staying thin, as described by Light, may be an unrealistic expectation.
So what can we do?
You are hired tomorrow to work at a large county-level government entity. Where are your areas of focus to start to create a better environment?
Are you going to talk with those direct-line staff that no one else is listening to?
Are you going work to understand internal structures and politics that exist?
Are you going to talk to the people utilizing services to develop a more consumer-oriented system?
Are you going to look at how you can better measure outcomes to better strategically plan?
(I'll stop giving you answers now)
You tell me-- this is what you are studying to have an opportunity to do!
Let's discuss!
