Globalisation and Human Resources Strategies
Human Resources Management is one of the most important part of the organisation which
helps an organisation to function smoothly as HUMANS are the most useful and difficult
resources that any organisation ca
n have. So if they can be managed well they can bring
fortune in form of both finance and goodwill in the name of the company, like survival of the
company , its profitability, their performance in relation to customer satisfaction but if they
are not treated well then the company can also see its worst day.
Globalisation means –
 Commerce without barriers i.e. borders
 Global Market Available
 Management , Products and services available – from anywhere.
In today’s world, Globalisation has increased the flow of work and resources for the world at
large, across the national boundaries and so a new set of organisational structure has to be set
out for managing the extended work and responsibilities which remains with all to manage.
The number of goods available, different factors of production used, or assets i.e. finance
available are available in large numbers and are easily substituted from resources worldwide.
It is expected to increase growth in all countries especially the developing countries.
Now we should look at different aspects how globalisation effects the human resources
management for different Multi-National Corporation (MNC) or Multi-National Enterprises
(MNE). The globalisation has actually increased the pressure on both the company and their
people as the competition has grown four folds as every company wants the competitive edge
through its best people available. The main problem with human resources available globally
is that the supply of educated, skilled, efficient, talent and capable resources is far less than
the demand which prevails. So getting a Right Person at Right Job for a Right Price is the job
of the human resources management team. The problems increase due to distance language
barriers, social – cultural differences etc. Only the use of technology and data available from
different sources help the companies to provide insights, develop strategies according to
future predicted needs. So the company who can use the above will gain a competitive edge
over others.
Different HRM strategies/ approaches the MNE can adopt specially in foreign land are:
 Exportive approach – The new foreign subsidiary or branch of the company will try
to follow all the HRM theories or system which its original parent company follows.
 Adaptive approach - The new foreign subsidiary or branch of the company will try
to adopt all the HRM theories or system which the local environment offers, therefore
new HR policies are followed.
 Integrative approach - The new...
