Giving advice to others, especially people you do not know well, is always a challenging rhetorical task. How well does Palm do? Consider the tone that he uses in the final third of the essay, where he gives “five pieces of common sense advice” (paragraph 20). How would you characterize it? Do you find the tone effective?
