Give some thought to some of the economic inequalities discussed in our textbook and within the course as a whole. When we start to narrow down the issues that effect economic inequality, there's clear intersection with regards to many identities, including gender, race, sexuality, and (of course) class as class mobility is one of the biggest issues within the United States. This assignment is on the shorter side, so you're going to want to select something very specific to analyze in your paper. The wage gap, for instance, is going to be a massive topic, but narrowing that down to how the wage gap impacts the mental health of women would give you something a little more specific to analyze.

You should construct a 3-4 page double-spaced paper. This paper should follow APA or MLA formatting and reference/citation standards, including double-spacing and a separate reference page. No abstract is needed if using APA formatting. If you use resources in your discussion, be sure to cite them and use a reference page.

  • Ensure that your topic is clear - and explicitly discussed within economic inequality.

  • Engage with Intersectionality and how an intersectional approach may shift your topic's focus or change what elements are highlighted.

  • Provide background information as necessary (such as history of a movement associated with your topic or laws that help or oppress) - make sure to provide supportive documentation.

  • Consider how the family (assumptions about family structures, expectations of family roles, etc.) might play into your topic of discussion.

Some possible topic ideas could include (but is not limited to):

  • In what ways does the wage gap impacts the mental health of women?

  • In what ways does transgender discrimination impact the economic opportunities of trans Americans?

  • In what ways might the stereotype of men as economic provider impact the mental health of men?

  • In what ways could economic inequality impact the educational opportunities for K-12 children?

  • In what ways might someone who has immigrated to the United States face economic inequalities?

  • In what ways does health care highlight economic inequalities? (If you decide to go in this direction, consider a specific area of health care such as maternity, emergency care, dental care, etc.)

Title: Impact of Wage-Gap on the Mental Health of Women
Background
Wage gap literally refers to the unequal pay, provided as wages to a male and a female, employee for the same amount of work carried in an o
rganization. The wage-gap is highly aligned with gender bias, as male employees tend to get more wage than their female colleagues do in most of the countries and at number of workplaces, for the same quality and amount of work. The implication of wage gap is excessively adverse on women mental health, though the signs are not visible. The effect of wage-gap for women is reaching far and ensuring salary is not only a good practice morally, but an ethical way for employee retention. Elimination of wage gap bridges the gap between the economic status of men and women, which evidently improves in the development of a good mental health among women. The wage gap between men and women in the workplace is considered as an extension of the gender discrimination carried over in the world and which is among the most prevalent ones (Kim et al.).
Some of the serious impact of the wage gap on the women mental health includes
Depression
The severe most outcome of the wage gap on the women’s mental health emerges in the form of engrossing depression. As working in an organization in a long-time context occupies a significant parentage of time in a person’s life, and therefore, experiencing a work environment, where discrimination is made evident by wage gap for women generates stress and anxiety, leading to mental health degradation. However, wage gap is prevalent and continues with the time, increasing the frustration level of working-women as they feel given less priority in their respective organizations, despite matching the frequency of the work of the male counterparts. The women despite working on same level as that of men break the social gender-stereotypes, yet they feel inferior to men as the wage gaps sustain. The spread of wage gap is so prevalent and far reaching in all organising bodies, be it public or private, they women feel treated as inferior. As there is, nothing they could do about it this fact, their anxiety and stress level increases, resulting in a feeling of deprivation, which...
