General Description:  For this assignment, you will need to reflect on the causes of poverty and what contributes to poverty being invisible in the United States (invisibility of poverty).   Resources: 1.  Explanations of Poverty: Click Here - https://clarkcollege.instructure.com/courses/1897816/files/136121386/download?wrap=1 2.  Framework of Understanding Poverty (Culture of Poverty Thesis) handout below and Real World, pages 204 and 206                    Click Here - file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/Hidden%20_class_%20rules%20(Framework%20for%20Understanding%20Poverty)%20-%20Culture%20of%20Poverty%20Thesis%20(2).pdf 3.  The Invisibility of Poverty: Real World, pages 206-209. Specific Guidelines: For this assignment, you will need to respond to three questions.  The first is simply "matching" items.  Questions 2 and 3 will be written in paragraph format. Think of these (Questions 2 and 3) as short essays (suggested 1-2 paragraphs each).  Other than that, I am leaving the length of your answers, entirely up to you. Remember, clarity is POWER.  Here are the questions: 1.  From the Explanations of Poverty resource above, simply match the specific "theory of poverty" with the "sociological paradigm/perspective".  (Note: on your submission, you simply need to put 1. Explanation of Poverty goes here = Sociological Perspective goes here' 2. XXXXX = XXXXX , 3. XXXXX = XXXXX, 4. XXXXX = XXXXX, and 5. XXXXX = XXXXX.  Many of these should be relatively easy for you by now, especially if you have done your reading and viewed all of the Learning Tools and Media Resources in this module.  There is one additional paradigm listed: feminism.  Even though we have mostly focused on three paradigms in this course, the RW text did discuss feminism briefly in Chapter one.  You may need to refer there.  However, I don't think that you will have much of a problem. 2.  Culture of Poverty (Two-Part Question): 1.  Part One: From the "Framework of Understanding Poverty (Culture of Poverty Thesis)"resource above and by consulting the Real World, pages 204 and 206, describe what is meant by the Culture of Poverty Thesis.  Part Two: The authors of the Real World do seem to discount this theory as being valid, however, Professor Ludwig disagrees with them and believes that the Culture of Poverty thesis can be quite helpful in understanding the barriers in overcoming poverty.  What do you think?  Is the Culture of Poverty thesis a valid explanation of poverty or not? In other words, do you agree with the authors of the text book or your Professor?  Provide your evidence or justification.  (Note: Remember, there are two parts to this question: What is meant by the Culture of Poverty Thesis and is it a valid explanation of poverty or not?) 3:  Invisibility of Poverty:  What social factors contribute to the invisibility of poverty in the United States?
