Jonathan and Jacob started this company 40 years ago. Jonathan’s area of expertise is microbiology and that o Jacob’s is food technology. Currently the company employees more than 800 employees and has a revenue of $1.6 billion. The company is divided into subsidiaries namely EnzymeTech and Essendon Emulsifiers. The managerial structure of the company is a top-down structure. Each unit has its own General Manager(GM) and a team of senior executives. There is a strong sense of competition among both the units of the business.

The EFS group is divided internally into two business units. EnzymeTech supply enzymes to various food industries across the globe. Essendon Emulsifiers is focused towards export markets as the company can supply standard emulsifiers through distribution channels. Company is also focused towards research and development activities. Each of the unit is individually headed by GM and decision are made by the top level management which have to be followed by the subordinates.
