Freud suggests that your memory of how your father protected you when you were a child, and your ongoing need for protection, lead people to imagine a God exists who still takes care of you. Freud gives no evidence or argument for this suggestion, except that in Christianity God is called “Father.” What kind of evidence could prove or establish that Freud is right? What kind could prove that he is wrong?
