Fostering Public Health Leadership by Koh and Jacobson • The Massive Difference Between Negative and Positive Leadership by Bill George • Innovation Leadership by Robert Shimonski • The Community Tool Box, Chapter 13, Section 2: Servant Leadership: http://ctb.ku.edu/en/table-of-contents/leadership/leadership-ideas/servant-leadership/main Please reflect on – and address- the following questions • Koh and Jacobson contend that “Public Health problems pose significant challenges. They are generally enormous in scale, stem from numerous and highly complex causes, play out in the public eye, impact a vast array of stakeholders, and require unusually long-term solutions.” In light of this statement, what qualities, in your opinion, are most critical for leaders in public health and how do they correspond to the accomplishments David Brooks outlined The Moral Bucket List? • Bill George contends that positive leadership is much more effective than negative leadership and he provides an example from Ford Motor Company to support his contention. How could some of the qualities recommended by George and exemplified in the Ford example be applied and utilized in public health organizations today? How do “positive leadership” and “servant leadership” intersect?
