Introduction
The theoretical frameworks are designed for understanding the needs and expectations of clients in psychology. The experts pursue cases of clients in the light of available researches and then, they determine the course of action which is clinically driven (Gursky et al, 2016). In this context, studies related to depression are many and they have strong foundations laid over some basic principles. To define depressions, experts perceive it as some disorder in which, the suffering individual feels unable to take pleasure in any physical or mental activity, a sudden rise in the sadness, development of suicidal tendencies in extreme cases as well as a constant tiredness dominating the personality of client (Gursky et al, 2016). In the given case of Terry, he clearly suffers from depression as extreme mood swings happen with him frequently. In his course of treatment, behavioral and cognitive therapies will be useful as they will help in monitoring not only his behavioral patterns but also cognitive therapy will be useful in creating healthy and positive environment to open him up to a large extent.
Overview of the Case Vignette

Twice in the past, he has suffered from depressive attacks out of which, when he was in college, he even decided to end his life. There is a family history of depression in Terry’s life; his grandfather and father both have already gone through the tough phase of depression. He seeks permanent cure of his problem.
Terry’s Examination and Intervention through Cognitive Therapy
The Diagnosis and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders fixes some criteria to determine whether or not, someone is suffering from depression. There are some specific symptoms that must be present in the behavior of person for at least couple of weeks. There are mainly two kinds of depressive states; the mood based depression and anhedonia, a state when person lacks pleasure in physical activities (Roubal 2007). The other symptoms of depression include sleep disturbances, visible changes in the weight of the suffering person, lack of concentration, frustration, emotional disturbances, a sense of guilt or feeling worthlessness, retardation and recurring thoughts of death and suicide.
As per the symptoms mentions above in the manual, Terry shows prominent symptoms of severe state of depression. At first, he...
