For this essay, you will write about 1 single experience you have had with writing. Then you will reflect on your experience and how you can use that experience to help you with other aspects of writing or other classes in your education.
Part 1:
The experience could be good or bad, but you will tell your audience your experience what happened. This could be giving detail about what the assignment was about, what you were supposed to write about, what did you do? What was giving your problems or what were you excelling at? The experience must be described to your audience and it must be made clear what you were doing great with or having problems with.
Part 2:
You will reflect on this experience. What did you learn? Now that you have taken time away from the experience what can you remember? What changes your view point? If you had a challenging time, what did you learn? What do you understand from this experience? If you had a great experience, what can you take from that? How can you use this positive experience to help you with other classes?
Audience: Academic audience, for this paper there must be a formal academic audience. Stay away from the words, “Me”, “You”, “Yourself” “yours” “You’re”, and contractions and slang.
Word Count: 1000-1500 words, ≈4-5 pages, nothing more than 5 pages, word count must be stated on your essay after your last paragraph. Word Count cannot include Your Name, Class, Instructor, Title, Date, and Work Cited.
Format: MLA Format: Double-spaced, 1” margins, Times new Roman font, 12 point font, or APA format will be accepted.
Research: No research is allowed on this essay.
Introduction and Conclusion: Your introduction paragraph is not the story. Your conclusion paragraph is not the reflection. These must be separate paragraphs. Your introduction for this paper must introduce your paper, and your ideas, but it does not go into your story. The conclusion for this paper must conclude your ideas from the story and the reflection. This is not the “reflection” paragraph.
