Document 2.1 - Ethical Questions in a Professional Email Document 2.1 | Ethical Problems in a Professional Email Copyright © Pearson Education. From: ‘Laura’ Date: Thursday, October 20, 2019 1:35 PM To: ‘[email protected]’; ‘[email protected]’ Cc: ‘[email protected]’ Subject: ANNUAL REPORT SAMPLE Attachments: Rogers Annual Report.docx Hi Emily and Roberto – Per your request, I am attaching the annual report for my sales region to this email so that you can base your own reports on the format. These reports are complicated, so I hope using this as a model helps you write yours. I hope you both had a great first year at Unicorp – the job of a Regional Manager is not easy, but you’ve both done great work and I hope to be able to work with you both for years to come! You’ll see that sales did not make goal in my region, largely due to what I feel is an inadequate training program for the new sales reps. Yes, some of it could be due to my slowness finding the right people to fill in the open rep positions in my region, but the training department took far too long to get the new program off the ground, and it still isn’t up to par. This is something I hope you’ll take my side on when you next meet with Gwen Parker. I know she’s busy and understaffed, but the job isn’t getting done to my satisfaction, nor that of the other Regional Managers. I’ve discussed this with both Zach Henderson and Marilyn Ng, who will no doubt back me up if you ask them. Also, I wasn’t able to gather the complete annual sales figures from Irfan Zarrani, since he has been out for over a month to recuperate from his surgery. In any case, I took an educated guess and incorporated what I feel are accurate enough figures for his area into the sales rep sales comparison bar chart, which you see on page 4 of the report. I erred on the side of upping his figures a little, since that will look better to the higher‐ups. I recommend you do a little fudging yourself on occasion, because otherwise we’ll have the bosses looking over our shoulders all of next year. Not too much, but a little exaggeration never hurt anyone. (and p.s., there are other tricks of the trade – give me a call if you have any questions!). Victor – Although much of the information in this report is going to be beyond what you need to know, I am cc‐ing you so that you can get an idea of the accounts we handle at Unicorp, per our informational interview. I hope you’ll consider applying for the next available rep opening. Yes, indeed there are number of ethical issues in Laura's email. I would like to mention critical ethical issues that can have grave consequence on the Unicorp as a business.
First ethical issue is Privacy. Laura's email completely breaches the privacy by providing confidential details to third party as well as multiple people who might not be intended to have access to that question. I strongly believe, Privacy breach is one of the worst kind of ethical issue that Laura has committed in her email. Biggest error is that she has not given much thought in understanding what...
