For several years, a political party has had 38% support among the population of potential voters. However, the party has recently changed its branding, and the party leadership wishes to know whether support for the party has changed. A random sample of voters is selected, and each person in the sample is asked whether he or she supports the party. Using the results, a hypothesis test is performed in order to find out whether there is convincing evidence of a change in the level of support for the party.
