Following are guidelines for HCA700 Poster Project. These guidelines are now also posted on D2L.
You will need to write aposteron a topic related to health informatics. As mentioned in the course syllabus, theposterwill bedone in two phases. For each phase, you will submit a deliverable as follows:
1- Abstract & Outline (15 points, due date sees Syllabus)
Receive feedback in a week.
2- FinalPoster(50 points, due date sees Syllabus)
Deliverable for each phase will be submitted to its respective D2L dropbox folder. You will be given
a feedback after each phase and you will be expected to incorporate that feedback in your submission.

Regarding the content of the poster, below you will find some general guidelines and topics
that you can choose from. You can also base your poster on your ongoing research or thesis.
You are also free to come up with a topic on your own based on your interests.

Once you have identified one or more topics, feel free to discuss it with the instructors.
You may choose to discuss it with the instructor who is teaching the course module to which
your topic belongs.
Following are some poster topics which is followed by the grading criteria that the instructors will use for grading.

Poster Topics
----------------
You should research and write a poster on one of the current health informatics issues or on an applied computerapplication in health care. Below are some example topics.

The orientation of the poster should address the subject in relation to the provider (e.g. hospital, healthcare organization, physician, department) and patient (e.g. quality and safety of care, efficiency of delivery, privacy). For example:
** What is the impact of MPI on patients from a privacy or error reduction perspective? How does implementationimpact a healthcare organization? Why should a healthcare organization implement such an application?
** What are the operational issues for a department to implement an application? How does a departmentutilize corporate resources in selecting a vendor? How does this integrate with the corporate informatics plan?What other systems and departments may be affected by this application?
Some example topics:
* Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
* Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) or Computerized Clinician Order Entry (CCOE)
* Master Patient Index (MPI)
* Local Health Information Infrastructure (LDHII)/ Community Health Information Exchange
* Single Sign On (SSO)
* Natural language processing tasks targeting some specific healthcare application
* Clinical Decision Support
* Document Management Systems
* Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
* HIPPA Validation Software; HIPPA Remediation Services
* Pharmacy Functionality via Handheld Technologies
* Biometric Security Technologies
* Financial Systems (Billing/Patient Accounting)
* Clinical Department Applications (Pathology, Cardiology, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Pediatrics,
Obstetrics, Surgery, Emergency Room)
* Smart Card
* ICD10
* mHealth
* Patient health records
* Social media and health
etc. (Feel free to come up with your own topic)

Abstract
An MPI is a database that stores information on all of a company's patients and how each of their visits is associated with a specific identi
fier, usually the patient's medical record number. Typically, MPI management tasks include some kind of programme that catalogues, organises, and identifies data stored in a database (Powell et al,2019).
Since the 1980s, electronic MPIs have been employed in healthcare, with index cards being phased out in favour of electronic records. Due to healthcare system mergers and the widespread use of electronic health records, there has been a dramatic increase in demand for electronic MPIs (EHRs). Enterprise medical practise integration (EMPI) is a relatively new concept that has been brought to light by industry initiatives like health information exchange (HIE) and the National Health Information Network (NHIN), which bring together MPIs from many institutions (Abdelhak et al,2022).
The MPI and EMPI are becoming more important databases as the healthcare sector transitions to a fully integrated, longitudinal EHR. When it comes to important details about a patient, such allergies, medications, and previous visits, an MPI may be a lifesaver in ensuring precision.
The best methods for creating and keeping up-to-date MPIs and EMPIs are outlined in this practise brief. For the sake of this best-practices summary, "MPI" refers to electronic MPI at both the organisational and enterprise levels.
Background
Problems with patient identity matching significantly impact data integrity difficulties in electronic health records. These problems not only prevent the enhancement of healthcare quality via the interchange of health information and the coordination of treatment, but they also contribute to the fatalities that are the consequence of medical mistakes (Just et al,2016). Duplicate patient records continue to be a significant issue in the healthcare industry, despite the best practices developed in patient access and medical record administration to prevent duplicate patient data.
It is very necessary to make use of more advanced technology in order to improve patient matching. Nevertheless, no matter how far technology progresses or how much more data is captured, human error can never be totally eradicated. Establishing standards and processes for both fronts- and back-end workers to adhere to is, thus, fundamental to the process of maintaining data integrity (Smith et al,2019). By instructing personnel on common standards and processes, duplicates will be produced less often on the front end, and the process of matching and merging duplicate records will be more accurate on the back end. In addition, monitoring, evaluating patterns, and locating mistakes that take place are all proactive techniques to discover problems with the data's integrity.
An index of known patients who are treated by a single organisation is...
