You are going to choose one topic from the list provided and create a newspaper article that describes the topic and impact it had on the lives of people in the South. You will write the article as if you are living in the moment and the event has just occurred. You may use the app PAGES (best options for format) or any other digital app you are familiar with to create your news article. You may also do it on paper, however the proper format must be followed. Criteria for News Article: 1 page only 1. Includes date of the event: 2 points 2. Includes a newspaper headline: catchy to get people’s attention: 2 points 3. Name and Description of topic: what it involved; specific details of topic: 6 points 4. Who did the topic impact the most and how?: 5 points 5. How did the topic change the way of life in the South?: 5 points 6. Testimony from someone impacted by the topic: could make up a quote that accurately shows opinion of person or you can look up a specific quote from that time period: 4 points 7. News article is written in first person and includes format of a proper news article, not just a report: 5 points 8.
