Findings from qualitative research studies emphasise how becoming ill can disturb the person’s ability to function, interact with others and, ultimately, experience life. Identify an illness, either acute or chronic, which is of particular interest to you. You may choose your own personal experience of illness, or that of a family member or friend. Briefly outline why you have chosen this specific illness. Through the use of the qualitative research, autobiographical literature and the illness experience literature, identify and discuss common illness experience themes that capture the subjective experience of being ill for these individual/s and/or their families Students who successfully complete this assignment will demonstrate a critical awareness of the ways in which illness experiences are likely to affect the lives and social relationships of those who are affected by illness.
