Find some data set where regression analysis would be appropriate. Preferably the data set should be from your place of employment, but if this is not possible, then you may find any applicable data set on the internet. There is no minimum or maximum number of entries or variables that should be in the data, but the data should have at least two variables – one independent variable and one dependent variable. It would be nice to have multiple independent variables.

Use the tool of your choice to conduct your analysis, but Microsoft Excel is more than capable of doing this.

In a Word document, complete the following:

  • Describe the data set (where you found it, what it means, etc.)

  • Develop scatterplot(s) as appropriate

  • Run regression analysis

  • Interpret the output

  • You should at least discuss the strength and direction of the relationship (correlation coefficient), whether the overall model is significant, and what the line of best fit is (y = mx+b).

  • Additionally, would this model be good for predictive purposes? Why or why not?

  • Insert images of output into Word document and explain what it means both statistically and in layman’s terms.

Two to three pages double-spaced is sufficient. Include both your analysis and the data set in your submission.

Introduction: Linear Regression analysis is used to measure the association or linear relationship between two or more variables. In which one variable is (dependent or response) variable and other variables are (independent or explanatory) variables. Generally, Regression analysis is used to estimate or predict the dependent variable by using the following Regression equations
Simple linear Regression equation: It deals with one dependent variable and one independent variable
Y = mx + b
Where, m is the slope coefficient of the regression equation
b is the intercept of the equation
y is the dependent variable
x is the independent variable
