  • Find a recent case where a religious organization was charged with committing a crime.

  • Your paper will consist of three sections:

    1. Focus on a crime that meets the "white collar" crime criteria.

    2. Discuss the facts of the case in great detail and the outcome. Be sure to include an analysis of how the public reacted to this organization's criminality.

    3. Choose an argument and defend it. There are two possible arguments to choose from (you are free to pick the one you feel strongest about):

      1. The crime committed by the religious organization does not impact the image of "crime" that society currently holds in such a way that they do not feel severely victimized and still fear street crime more than white collar crimes.

      2. The crime committed by the religious organization impacts the image of "crime" that society currently holds in such a way that they feel even more victimized than they would had they been the victim of a street crime.

  • Keep in mind what you are arguing. The goal is to demonstrate that society is either more impacted by the effects of "good" people causing harm OR they are less impacted by the effects of "good" people causing harm.
