Feminist scholarship has long struggled with the problem of differences between males and females. This has run the gamut from positions in liberal feminism arguing that most differences between males and females are socialized and therefore flexible, to arguments such as Firestone’s argument that true liberation means getting rid of physical differences (e.g., pregnancy and lactation). There are many other varieties of these arguments. Do you think there are inherent unchangeable differences between men and women? Should these guide theory?
