Farm worker wages vary by region and by the number of years a person has worked for the same employer. In addition, some farm workers are paid based on a piece rate, that is, by the number of baskets or crates they pick of the crop being harvested. Some research suggests farm workers work longer hours in some regions of the United States. Random samples of farm workers from four regions were obtained, and the number of hours worked during a spring planting week was recorded for each. The summary statistics are given in the following table.
Is there any evidence to suggest that there is a difference in the mean number of hours worked per week due to region?
