Extra Credit Film Review
How valid is Hollywood? Some historically-based films honor the facts and true stories, while others are
works of historical-fiction (a story loosely based on historical accounts and facts). For this extra credit
opportunity, select a historically-based movie and complete the following:
1. Write a 1-2 page synopsis about the movie explaining the storyline, and include information and research about
the true event.
2. As you view the film, note any questions you have about the validity of the storyline or content. For example, if
you are watching Schindler’s List, you may note: “What happened to the little girl in the red coat?” “Did the
scene with the ring really happen?” “Where did Schindler go after the war?” Research your questions and report
any findings in detail.
3. Review the film as if you were a historical film critic. How does this movie measure up? Is it factual? Can it be
used as a teaching tool on its subject matter, or is it more fiction than fact? Would you suggest this movie to a
friend? Why or why not? Your review should be at least 1 ½ pages, but you are not limited.
*This data is to be emailed to me by the due date indicated at the end of our syllabus. Your work
