The United State of America has set an unprecedented example of religious harmony since
centuries. The Principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country and that they are
guaranteed equal treatment by their government has made USA what they are. The vision that
politicians and preachers have extolled for more than two centuries – that America historically
has been a place for religious tolerance. As per research conducted by Pew Research Center in
2014, American population identified themselves as Christians (70.6%), Non- Christians (5.9%)
and Unaffiliated (22.8%). Amongst the Christian population 46.5% were Protestants and 20.8%
were Catholics. Thus it can be seen that at present the country is inhabited by large number of
religious groups living as a secular country and practicing religious tolerance.
