Selective attention is known to be the fundamental ability for the safe performance of driving. It is important that the drivers are able to select the relevant stimuli and ignore the others stimuli that are irrelevant to the task. Moreover, selective attention functions to control the interference caused by the destructors or the irrelevant stimuli. However, in some cases the drivers’ attention focuses on matters that are not related to driving rather than talking on a cell phone that generates distraction and affects the performance of driving. This consequently results in degraded lane keeping, speed control, increased reaction time, missed traffic signals and visual scanning.
