Explain why divorce is handled very differently for men and women in America, unsurprisingly. When there are children involved, the vast majority of the time the children will go to their mother for the bulk of their time. While some may view this as a "win" for the mother (especially the fathers), there are drawbacks to this approach. For the mothers, this means that unless -- and even if -- they remarry or become involved with another partner they are essentially solely responsible for making a living, raising the children, and finding daycare or making similar arrangements to work. The fathers generally get alternate weekends and some summertime with the kids, but almost all the work of raising the children is not theirs to do in reality.
