Child psychiatry and child psychology are medical specialities that seek to identify and possibly prevent the onset of mental health disorders at the earliest moment (Steiner et al, 2009, p17). However, while both child psychiatrists and child psychologists interview and administer a carefully chosen selection of psychological tests to assess the presence of conditions such as Attention Deficient /hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and possible morbid conditions such as learning disability, anxiety or depressive features, psychologists are limited to using cognitive behavioural innervations in the scope of their treatment (Johnson et al, n.d.).
