MEMBRANE SEPARATION PROCESS


OBJECTIVES:



  1. To demonstrate the reserve osmosis via membrane separation technology.

  2. To evaluate the efficiency of membrane separation process based on reverse osmosis system.



RESULT AND DISCUSSION:


Based the result, at time 1 minute, the highest value of conductivity (mS/cm) was at pressure difference 15 bars (14.09mS/cm) and the lowest value of conductivity was at pressure difference 10 bars (10.01mS/cm). After 15 minutes, the highest value of conductivity was at pressure difference 20 bars (15.15mS/cm) and the lowest value of conductivity still at pressure difference 10 bars (14.36mS/cm). The value of the conductivity supposed to increase when the pressure difference increase, which mean at pressure difference 10 bars will have the lowest conductivity value, following by the 15 bars, 20 bars and 25 bars as the highest value of conductivity. This fluctuating value of conductivity was occurred because of the error from membrane filtration unit.
