Expectations of your Arts Folio. (2500 word equivalent: weighting 60%)Students develop an arts portfolio. This includes: class tasks, activities, plans and a range of teaching resources and stimulus material. The folio must contain a rationale outlining the student’s personal journey in the arts and motivating their choices of activities and resources.Aspect OneA rationale outlining your personal journey in the arts. Your personal journey in the arts leads to your view of what are appropriate learning experiences for children and affects your personal philosophy. These three must be clearly explained and developed using referencing as per the APA style. (15%)
Aspect TwoThis is an opportunity for you to explore materials that could be useful later in the year and throughout your teaching career.(varied activities and resources that you would use; please also explain why you choose these activities and resources). I am expecting work samples with annotations e.g the qualities in making / playing with the materials.Suggested learning experiences are:•Drawing using different materials•Painting•Modelling, e.g. Clay or Dough•Scrap construction•Printing•Puppetry•Musical experiences involving the ‘elements’ of music, beat, rhythm, pitch, chords, harmony, tonal quality, texture, volume, note representation.•Dance, body percussion, movement.•Told stories using ‘props’.•Songs, finger plays and action rhymes•Ways of transitioning throughout the day.•Land Art ( 25%)Aspect ThreeA brief report referring to relevant literature and explaining how the resources will be used to facilitate young children’s holistic development through artistic endeavours.
