Provide an overview of crime and victimization in the United States and include current statistics of at least three major crimes (UCR Part I Crimes).

Identify and describe three direct impacts of crime on victims and their families. Discuss whether these are short or long-term impacts.

Explain which crimes have higher reporting rates and which crimes have lower reporting rates.

Identify methods for improving rates of reporting for underreported crimes.

Overview of victimization and crime in the U.S. and the present statistics
It has been observed that from the year 1993 to 2021, the rate of the violent victimization in the United States declined from 79.8 to 16.5 per 1,000 individuals who are of age 12 or even older. Women are always are on the greater risk when compared with the men for the stalking victimization but women and men are equally quite likely to experience harassment. The people of stalking behaviours had the following: Making the unwanted phone calls, following or spying on the victim, leaving unwanted presents, showing up at places without any kind of proper reason, posting information or even spreading rumours about the victim (Owens, 2016). 
As per the FBI, index crime in the U.S. consists of property crime and violent crime. However, it can be stated that it is not easy to say for certain about the types of crime that occurs. Both Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) both have stated that there have been dramatic decrease in the property and violent crimes in this country since the 1990s, when crime spread like fire across this country. At present Americans believe in the fact that crime is in the upper side even when the data shows it is down 
Property crime in this country is much more common when contrasted to the violent crime. In the year 2019, it was reported by FBI that there were more than 2,100 property related crimes in U.S. per 1, 00,000 inhabitants, but there has been 4.5% reduction when contrasted with 2018. Property related crime in the US is exceptionally normal contrasted with different sorts of criminal cases like manslaughters. Albeit fierce violations have a higher rate than vandalism, a few measures must be laid out to diminish these criminal cases.
