Organizational Structure Align Technology maintains a very traditional hierarchical structure (Figure 1). We currently operate with a functional (bureaucratic) model with a relatively long chain of command and wide span of control, as my leadership team of 12 VPs would attest to. We also err on the side of rigid departmentalism, with teams having little interaction outside of their department. Executive Summary
Walmart aims to meet all the requirement of our customer in a cost-effective manner.
Walmart business model has become an inspiration to many stores across the globe t
o attract and
retain their customers. We will continue to extend our support to the customers in meeting their
requirements. At Walmart, we value both our customers and employees as our assets. Without a
motivated and satisfied employee, we cannot maintain our current position in the industry. All
employees in Walmart will work towards the common goal of becoming an industry leader
through effective integration and cooperation. Our employees will play a key role in establishing
such integration across the globe that will make us expand our virtual presence in 28 countries. It
will assist us in successfully eliminating long waiting ques of the customer in our store.
Transformational leaders are required to implement our growth strategy throughout the
organization successfully.
Organizational Structure
Walmart maintains traditional hierarchical organization structure (Figure 1). We are
currently operating a business in a functional model with a broader span of control (Lombardo,
2017). The growth of Walmart is tremendous, and there is a requirement for effective control and
monitoring system. Walmart has three major business operation segment Walmart US, Walmart
International and Sam’s Club. Functional specialist is handling every segment of the business to
make an effective decision and handle the stiff competition in each market segment. Acquisition
of Jet.Com was a game changer for Walmart that provided us to accelerate the revenue during
the last fiscal year (Walmart, 2017). Changes in customer taste and preference have brought in
dramatic changes in our business. The growth of Walmart is highly integrated with the e-
commerce growth.

Walmart involves in various merger and acquisition activities to boost our sales through
e-commerce. Walmart is experienced with traditional retailing business and wholesale business
when compared to the e-commerce business (Walmart, 2013). We have to capitalize the potential
growth opportunity in the e-commerce segment through a higher level of integration with the
acquired businesses. The current organizational structure is suitable for the business expansion.
A collaborative effort and higher level of integration are essential for Walmart, and we require
transformational leaders to capitalize our human resource.
Current Culture and Values
Our culture’s focal point is customers. We focus on enhancing the overall customer
satisfaction and retaining our existing customers by providing excellent service to them. Respect
for the individuals, work with integrity, and continuous improvement is our values. We have
successfully overcome various hurdles that we faced in the past and is successful in rebuilding
our brand image. It has resulted in our company to hold the 24th rank as the most valuable brand
across the globe by Forbes 2017 (Forbes, 2017).
Our cultural values drive us, but at the same time, we are reactive to the various changes
in the market. Responding to changes after they became the need of the hour to sustain in the
industry is causing us more challenge in retaining our position in the industry. Understanding the
customer requirement and creating new trend is required in this current retailing industry.
Customers inclination towards technology and expectation of higher end services is the driving
force of the business. Walmart should begin the culture of making the best use of technology and
being proactive in meeting the customer requirements.
