Every student is responsible for uploading one audiovisual presentation on an assigned documentary, and for commenting on the presentations of at least two classmates. Online links to the documentaries are located in Blackboard under Weekly Course Work, and students can discover which Week they are scheduled to make their report at the end of this SYLLABUS (after Jan. 28). The Presentation is a five-minute summary (600-750 words typed) of what was most helpful and interesting about the video. Avoid quoting and try instead to use your own wording to summarize. The Presentation should be typed but it is not graded for grammar, spelling etc. It is graded for breadth and depth of understanding. Be aware that many videos offer closed-captions (“CC”) and provide written transcripts of the dialog which makes understanding even easier. Be sure to check that the link works at the beginning of the semester. Waiting until the night before your presentation is due is a big mistake. Audiovisual Presentations count for 10% of the semester grade, and, if not given on time, are marked late by 10 points. Students have until May 5 to comment on other presentations by answering that student’s question to classmates.
