1. Introduction to social networking
The online platform which is used by modern peoples for building their social relationships and networks by sharing their connections in real life, performed activities, career interests and feelings with known persons is called social networking. The services of social networking can be categorized on bases of user religion, user occupation and user age. The linked trust system of social networking makes it popular among users where the user can create a page of self description to connecting with friends. The bases types of social networking are listed below:
· The service used to perform social activities with already existing known individuals persons. For example, Orkut, Facebook etc.
· The services used to perform inter personal communication which is normally not social. For example, LinkedIn.
· The services used to allow user to search any specific resource by help of social navigation. For example, Goodreads.
The user can set privacy settings on his / her bases for improved data security on social networking sites.
2. Background of social networking and involved stakeholders
The history of social networking starts in 1970’s when BBS has created first information sharing on virtual community. When WWW is introduced in 1995, then, BHI allows users for creating websites according to their requirements. The SixDegrees in 1997 allows users to make friend list and create their own profile. Friendster in 2002, LinkedIn in 2003, Facebook in 2004, YouTube in 2005, Twitter in 2006 and Google + in 2011 shows the effective background of social networking.
