Over the years, increase in screen time has been predominant. Various electronic media devices are easily available in all parts of the world. While television has kept children hooked, video games, computer, tablets, smartphones are becoming their favourite now. The screens have been creating a dire impediment in relation to their usage amidst the children which appear to govern their lives. It has almost been effective in disrupting the thought pattern of the children which had made them unable to function. It is almost impossible for them to spend even a day without these devices and the internet. The technological advancement has posed an issue for the parents because they now need to figure out ways to limit screen time for children. As this can be harmful to their mental and physical growth.
Causes of increase in screen time
Delaney Ruston, a doctor by profession discovered that children spend almost 6 to 8 hours daily looking at screens. As a specialist, she wondered, how will this be effective in affecting the wellbeing of children.
