Singer argues that moral people should donate all money not needed for the basic requirements of life to overseas aid organizations such as UNICEF or Oxfam America. He writes, “The formula is simple: whatever money you’re spending on luxuries, not necessities, should be given away.”Essay Question: After your basic needs are met, should you give all of your luxury money to charity? If not, what is the moral difference between you and Bob?Remember, in Bob’s situation, Singer is arguing the moral imperative is to save the life of the child. Therefore, every time you choose to spend your money on a luxury item instead of donating to charity, you are choosing to save the Bugatti over the child.Your paper must include a short description of the Bob and the Bugatti scenario and explain what Singer is trying to demonstrate with it. If you agree with Singer, you need to explain why you believe you should save the boy on the tracks every time we can. If you disagree with Singer, you need to explain why luxury items are more important than helping children in need.
